Job Opportunity: Managing Director

JOB TITLE: Managing Director, The Road Theatre Company

DESCRIPTION: The Managing Director handles marketing, fundraising, contracts, basic accounting, and some ticketing functions for The Road Theatre Company — a 160-member ensemble company with a 25-year history of producing award-winning premiere theatre. This is a part-time, independent contractor position with flexible hours, on average 25 hours per week. The position reports to the Artistic Directors.

DUTIES:

MARKETING:
– Create and send weekly e-blasts in Patron Manager
– Coordinate artwork schedule and delivery with graphic designer
– Work with Governing Board members to create budget for print, online & social media ads
– Submit ad art per publication schedules
– Supervise Social Media Coordinator to ensure that ads/post boosts are used effectively
– Identify and build relationships for group sales and outreach

FUNDRAISING:
– Work with Administrator to create and maintain donor lists
– Work with Governing Board to create new fundraising campaigns
– Help coordinate and oversee fundraising campaigns, such as the annual Summer Playwrights Festival, an annual crowdfunding campaign, and an annual Gala
– Maintain grants calendar
– Work with Governing Board members to pursue new grant opportunities

CONTRACTS:
– Draft contracts once terms have been negotiated by Producers
– Coordinate contract execution
– Work with Producers and Administrator to ensure that contractors are paid on schedule

ACCOUNTING:
– Input bills and cut checks weekly in Quickbooks
– Process bi-weekly check/cash and electronic deposits
– Reconcile bank statements monthly
– Print and mail 1099s annually
– Coordinate annual tax return with Accountant

TICKETING:
– Set up events and discounts in Patron Manager
– Set up events in other ticketing outlets (Goldstar, LA Stage Tix, Ovation)
– Supervise ticket sales and adapt marketing strategies as necessary

In addition, while we are willing to train the right person, we are looking for someone who possesses the following:
– Advanced Microsoft Office skills
– Intermediate-to-advanced Photoshop skills
– Working knowledge of Quickbooks
– Experience with ticketing software (Patron Manager, Ovation Tix, etc.)
– A Bachelor’s degree
– A minimum of 2 years’ related experience

COMPENSATION
This is an independent contractor position. Compensation will be $2,000 per month, paid bi-weekly.

START DATE
We will begin interviews the week of November 28, and we are looking to hire immediately. Training will take place over the holiday season, dates and times TBD based on the successful applicant’s availability.
